Dr Ashish Nagpal has been in ophthalmic field for the last 19 years. He is a second generation Ophthalmologist and has vast experience in diagnosis and treatment of Corneal Diseases like Keratoconus, Dry Eye, Corneal Infections, Corneal Scars , Pterygium , Eye Allergy, Conjunctivitis etc.
Dr Nagpal finished his Post Graduation in Ophthalmology from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital , New Delhi .He pursued his fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and followed it with being a Clinical Assistant at Corneo Plastic Unit, Queen Victoria Eye Hospital, UK. Dr Nagpal has also spent time as a Clinical Observer at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Summary of Educational Journey
Dr Ashish Nagpal did his undergraduate training from the University Of Pune . He pursued his postgraduate degree and surgical residency training from Regional Institute Of Ophthalmology , Sitapur, UP ( CSM University , Kanpur , Uttar Pradesh ) .
During his residency he also cleared the Part A – exams of the International Council of Ophthalmology .
Dr Nagpal further did his senior residency from, Department of Ophthalmology , Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi , India . Dr Nagpal was awarded the DNB Degree ( Diplomate of National Board in Ophthalmology ) by the National Board Of Examinations, New Delhi in 2004.
He was also conferred the reputed FRCS ( Glasgow) in Ophthalmology (Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow) in 2004.
In 2005 , he went on to pursue his interest in Cornea by doing a super specialty fellowship training in Cornea & Anterior Segment from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India
In 2006 ,he got the opportunity to work as a Clinical Assistant with pioneering and dynamic Corneal, Refractive surgeon Mr Sheraz Daya , Director, Corneo Plastic Unit , Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust, East Grinstead, UK and Centre For Sight .
In UK , Dr Nagpal also spent time as a Clinical Observer with Mr Bruce Allan, Senior Consultant and Mr John Dart, Senior Consultant, & Director of Research at Cornea and Refractive Surgery Services at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London which is the oldest and largest specialist eye hospital in the world.
Professional Journey from 2006 onwards
Dr Ashish Nagpal has been a consultant at the Cornea , Cataract and Refractive Surgery Services at Retina Foundation, Ahmedabad, India from 2006 onwards.
Dr Ashish Nagpal was instrumental in the setting up and upgradation of the Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Services and also the AsoPalov Eye Bank in the premises of Retina Foundation, Ahmedabad.
It was during this period that he conducted training workshops for Surgical Cornea and also started Fellowship Program in Cornea as well as Optometry in the department.
Dr Ashish Nagpal headed the Cornea , Cataract and Refractive Surgery Services at Retina Foundation from 2010 to 2016.
( He is still associated with Retina Foundation as a Visiting Senior Consultant & Eye Surgeon .)
Many years of experience at Retina Foundation & Eye Research Center, Ahmedabad, India, a tertiary referral centre for eye problems had further made him adapt at handling complicated cases of corneal disease, corneal infections, ocular trauma (eye injuries) , complicated cataracts.
In 2008 , he established the Wavelase Eye Centre at Navrangpura, as a dedicated Refractive Surgery Service for LASIK and PRK , with the Alcon Wavelight Excimer Laser . Gradually his centre also become a referral centre for cornea alongwith refractive surgery.
2017 onwards Dr Ashish Nagpal expanded the premises of Wavelase Eye Centre and started a separate dedicated Centre for Cornea at Navrangpura , Ahmedabad to cater to his area of interest.
Dr Nagpal’s Centre for Cornea also has the first of its kind dedicated Dry Eye Clinic – with advanced Dry Eye diagnosis and treatments like Lipiflow available under one roof.
This is currently the only dedicated Dry Eye Clinic in Gujarat and caters to patient from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra as well.

Dr Ashish Nagpal is a firm believer in progress through Clinical Research and has presented his work at International and National Conferences. He regularly enriches his experience by visiting several centers in U.S.A and Europe.He has been a reviewer of peer reviewed journals like American Journal Of Ophthalmology and Cornea .
In India, Dr Ashish Nagpal has been invited to many prestigious meetings/ workshops , like the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons( ESCRS) , American Society Of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons ( ASCRS) , All Indian Ophthalmologic Society Conference( AIOS) , Delhi Ophthalmological Society, Gujarat Ophthalmological Society, , Indian Implant and Refractive Surgery Society (IIRSI), Baroda Ophthalmological Society , Rajasthan Ophthalmologic Society etc to share and teach various aspects of corneal and Refractive surgery .
He is founder member of the Cornea Society Of India since 2013 and has been invited to conduct courses, hands on workshops and seminars since last 7 years in Keracon – Annual Meeting of the Cornea Society of India .
Dr Ashish Nagpal has also keenly involved with the Blind People’s Association and local NGO’s like Manav Sadhna, AsoPalov Eye Bank and is an active member of the Eye Bank Association of India.
Dr Nagpal’s Centre for Cornea since its inception continues to provide 15 percent of its services totally free of cost / at very subsidised cost to patients from the poor socio economic strata. We do believe that the latest technology and services should be available to the underprivileged , to truly make a difference. We hope and aspire to start a foundation to be able to increase this component of service to the community to help reduce preventable blindness especially in young children.
With above mindset , Dr Ashish Nagpal was also instrumental in starting free and subsidised monthly cornea out patient visits in peripheral areas of Ahmedabad, like Jyoti Eye Hospital, Visnagar and Bhareja Eye Hospital, Bhareja in 2010.
